De Bungelaer
A bespoke luxury hospitality site in three languages, with room and restaurant booking built straight into the experience.
About De Bungelaer
Boutique Hotel & Restaurant De Bungelaer is a waterfront hospitality venue in Beers, in the Land van Cuijk region of Noord-Brabant, set on the Kraaijenbergse Plassen lakes near Cuijk, Grave and Nijmegen. It brings together a 17-room boutique hotel, a full-service restaurant with a waterside terrace, meeting and boardrooms, and wellness facilities. So the website had to speak to leisure guests, diners and business visitors at once.
The challenge
Boutique Hotel & Restaurant De Bungelaer, on the Kraaijenbergse Plassen, is several things at once: 17 hotel rooms, a restaurant with a waterfront terrace, meeting facilities and a growing events programme. They needed a website that captures the atmosphere of the location but also does the practical work, letting a visitor book a room, reserve a table, read a menu and understand the business facilities without friction. On top of that, their audience is Dutch, English and German speaking, so the site had to serve all three properly, not as an afterthought translation.
The analysis
The site sells the feeling first. The deep blue and gold branding, large typography and curated photography have to convey the location before a single booking happens, so design and conversion carry equal weight. We built the whole site in that luxury identity, with the atmospheric imagery doing the work the location does in person.
Three languages is a structural decision, not a plugin. NL, EN and DE each need their own navigation, content, URLs, CTAs, booking routes, menus and metadata, all kept consistent as the three versions evolve. We set up a full trilingual architecture so each language is a complete site in its own right, not a translation layer over a Dutch original.
Bookings live in their existing operation. Rooms run on RoomRaccoon and the restaurant on Zenchef, so the integrations had to feel like a continuation of the branded site, especially on mobile, instead of a jarring jump to a separate tool. We styled both booking flows to match the site and kept them continuous on smaller screens, so reserving never feels like leaving De Bungelaer.
Content changes with the seasons. Offers, events and news shift constantly, so the client needs to publish and update them across all three languages without breaking consistency or layout. We structured the content so the team can post seasonal offers, events and news themselves and keep the three language versions aligned.
What we built
Brand & bespoke design
A custom website built in De Bungelaer's luxury identity, where the atmosphere of the location carries the visitor before any booking happens. Deep blue tones, gold accents, large typography and curated photography set the tone across every page.
- Bespoke design in the hotel's luxury branding: deep blue tones, gold accents, large typography and curated photography.
- Dedicated sections for rooms and suites, the restaurant, meeting rooms, activities, offers, menus, news and recruitment.
- Direct WhatsApp and contact options, downloadable menus and clear booking CTAs throughout the site.
Trilingual architecture (NL/EN/DE)
A full trilingual structure where Dutch, English and German each work as a complete site, not a translation bolted onto a Dutch original. Every layer stays aligned as the three versions grow.
- Language-specific navigation, content and URLs for NL, EN and DE.
- CTAs, booking routes, menus and metadata kept consistent across all three languages.
- Each language version can evolve on its own without the others drifting out of sync.
Booking integrations (RoomRaccoon + Zenchef)
Room and restaurant reservations wired into the operation the hotel already runs, styled to feel native. RoomRaccoon handles the rooms (the same system the hotel uses behind the scenes) and Zenchef the restaurant, both made to read as part of the branded site.
- Room reservations integrated via RoomRaccoon, made to feel like a natural part of the branded site.
- Restaurant bookings integrated via Zenchef, with the same continuity on mobile.
- Both flows match the site's look so reserving never feels like a detour to a separate tool.
Content & self-management
A setup the team can run themselves, because offers, events and news shift with the seasons. The client publishes and updates across all three languages without a developer and without breaking the layout.
- Content structured so the client can publish seasonal offers, events and news independently.
- Updates stay consistent across the NL, EN and DE versions.
- No layout breakage when new offers or news go live.
Performance & responsive
Atmospheric photography kept sharp while optimised across devices, so the imagery that sells the location loads well everywhere. Booking actions stay visible throughout, on desktop and mobile alike.
- Performance work to keep the photography crisp while optimised for every screen size.
- Responsive layouts that hold the luxury feel from desktop down to mobile.
- Booking actions always within reach, wherever the visitor is on the site.
