Odoo is an open source business platform that runs your administration, sales, inventory and projects in one environment. Its strength is in the modules: you use what you need and build the rest on top. The pitfall is maintenance, because every custom module has to move along with new releases. We handle implementation, custom work, integrations and migration, and we take over existing Odoo environments from other parties.
What gets in the way
Odoo is often chosen because it covers a lot for relatively little money, and because it is open source: you are not tied to a single supplier and you decide where it runs. All of that is true, but only for as long as your environment stays maintained. Where it goes wrong is almost always the same pattern: custom work gets built on top of the standard modules, new releases come out, and that custom work does not come along by itself. Skip a few releases and updating is no longer an afternoon's work. The standard has moved on, your custom work has not, and the gap has to be bridged by hand. The longer you wait, the wider that gap and the more expensive the catch-up. So with Odoo we look not only at what you need now, but at how maintainable it will be in two years. That means solving as much as possible within the standard, keeping custom work small and clearly bounded, and building it so an upgrade stays manageable. Sometimes it means advising you not to put something in Odoo at all.

Frequently asked questions
Why does an Odoo environment need to be kept current?
Odoo ships new releases regularly, and your custom modules do not come along automatically. Skip a few releases and the standard has moved on while your custom work stood still, and that difference has to be bridged by hand. The longer you wait, the wider the gap and the more expensive the catch-up. Staying current in small steps is almost always cheaper than one big leap.
Can you take over an existing Odoo environment?
Yes. We start by mapping what is running: which modules are standard, what custom work sits in there, and whether that custom work is cleanly separated or was changed directly inside the standard. That last point largely determines what updating will cost. You then get a plan with priorities rather than a surprise afterwards.
Community or Enterprise, which should I choose?
That depends on which modules you need and whether you would otherwise have to build that functionality yourself. Enterprise includes modules Community does not have; if that is exactly what you need, building it yourself is usually more expensive than the licence. If you do not need those modules, Community is a perfectly good basis. We work that through up front rather than pointing at the heaviest option by default.
Is Odoo suitable for my distinguishing process?
For your administration, sales, inventory and projects, usually yes. For the process that sets you apart from competitors, often not, because you end up building so much custom work on top of the standard that you get the drawbacks of both worlds. A common split is Odoo for the backbone and a separate application for your core, cleanly integrated. We will say honestly if that works out better in your case.
Am I tied to you if you build my Odoo?
No. Odoo is open source and your custom modules live in your own repository with documentation alongside. Another party can take it over, and you decide where the environment runs. That is exactly why we also take over other people's Odoo: it should be possible.
What does an Odoo project cost?
That depends mainly on how much custom work you need and whether an existing environment has to be taken over or updated. So we start with an assessment and then give a fixed price per phase, so you are not on a time-and-materials basis. For a takeover that assessment matters even more, because the state of the existing custom work drives most of the cost.
